VIRTUAL TEACHING

"
My youngest son began working with Andrew when he was five years old. Owen is now 10 and every Monday for the last five years, Andrew has become a part of our life – and part of our family. Andrew has the ability to do what all piano teachers can do – teach your child to read music and play songs. But that is really just the beginning of what those Mondays have become. He has taught him to be kind and patient, to focus and be attentive, to find the music that speaks to him and also teach him music theory while introducing him to new genres he might never have discovered. It has really become so much more than just teaching him piano – far more than I ever expected. So my otherwise “rough and tumble” boy spends his Monday afternoons writing songs and perfecting old ones and learning invaluable life lessons on what is means to be a good, kind and talented man from one of the best.

I had a great time working with Andrew. Andrew is an incredible teacher. He creates a relaxed and casual environment for working in his cozy apartment and delivers in very interesting and efficient approaches. He is accessible and responsive and it is easy to figure out scheduling and work progress with him. I learned a lot in both piano performance and music theory in a very short amount of time and the whole process was super fun. He also has an awesome cat!

I’m a doctor who played the cello in high school. Then, some years back, I decided to take a class at Juilliard in music composition. The best thing about Juilliard was that a fellow student connected me to his music teacher, Andrew Parsegian. We started with learning Logic Pro, which morphed into guitar lessons and then piano lessons.
Andrew is versatile in his abilities and his interests. Andrew’s lessons are “my time” -- he is fun, kind, patient, and enthusiastic. As telemedicine has become the way of delivering care, it is my pleasure to schedule in music lessons with Andrew and meet with him virtually as well. The only problem is that they can't copy and paste him 1000x so that each of you could get the personalized attention and help that I do.

The piano sitting on our New York City apartment was unfortunately refinished by the original owner and made into an ugly piece of furniture. And, furniture it was until I was reintroduced to playing it by Andrew Parsegian, master piano teacher. About six months ago I began weekly lessons with Andrew, who was recommended by a connection through Steinway Pianos. I wanted to regain some of the facility I once had with classical piano, and I was also interested in learning how to play songs from the American songbook. I am at retirement age, but still working full time, and I realized that it would be a slow process. Andrew is patient, encouraging, and attentive to my progress. I am beginning to make music. With the advent of social distancing, we have begun lessons using FaceTime on my iPhone. I was apprehensive about lessons by phone but Andrew made the transition seamless. I recommend Andrew Parsegian as a teacher to adults at any level of piano ability. As a teacher, he is professional, smart, responsive, joyful, and fun.
